The DigiCorder HD S2 HDTV Receiver with integrated PVR - developed and manufactured by TechniSat Digital GmbH in Germany, is test winner in the current issue of “test” (10/2008) as a result of outstanding test performance in picture and audio quality, connectivity and first class ease of use.

DigiCorder HD S2 as test winner
Picture quality, audio, handling and versatility were particular attributes singled out by the test operators at Stiftung Warentest and the DigiCorder HD S2 has been awarded the best mark - “Good” (1.8).
Receiving the best marks in every section: picture quality (1.2), handling (2.3), versatility (1.5), audio (1.2) and eco-friendliness (2.2) – the HD-S2 consumes just 0.7 watts in standby, the DigiCorder HD S2 was one step ahead of its rivals and ultimately received the “Test Winner” award from Stiftung Warentest.
This endorsement further confirms the outstanding performance of TechniSat’s set top boxes, and together with first class awards for other products, is the result of the outstanding performance of TechniSat Digital’s research and development centre in Dresden/Germany, where the DigiCorder HD S2 has been developed. Test Winner offers – Storage and Functionality
The DigiCorder HD S2 offers everything that a user wants. In addition to SD programming, the DigiCorder HD S2 is ready for the reception of HDTV channels via satellite and with the integrated 160 or 500 GB Twin-Tuner PVR allows one channel to be watched while recording another – watch a sports event in HD and record a movie at the same time. The 160 GB PVR provides 88 hours of SD-quality entertainment and 22 hours of HD-quality programming. HDMI, Ethernet and USB2.0 provide options for connectivity and functionality. For the reception of Pay-TV channels, the DigiCorder HD S2 is equipped with two common interface slots and integrated CONAX decryption system with two card readers which enable watching encrypted TV or radio channels with the appropriate Pay-TV Card.
Connection of PC – and other external devices
Recorded content can be streamed to a PC and vice versa using the network connectivity functionality provided by the Ethernet port or USB2.0. External mass storage devices such as USB sticks and external hard drives can be connected to the DigiCorder HD S2 to allow music to be played in MP3 format as well as provide slide shows of pictures in JPG format. With the addition of a USB WLAN adaptor the network connectivity can be expanded using wireless communication.

Easy handling and well arranged menu
The TechniSat DigiCorder HD S2 is equipped with integrated services, which enable easy and comfortable use of the receiver – resulting in the award of test winner in the “handling” section. TechniSat’s “AutoInstall” provides the user with all the standard settings, together with connection to the TV and antenna. The Programme List Manager “ISIPRO”, available with Astra 19.2° E, makes searching TV-Channels extremely easy and keeps lists up-to-date. The EPG function allows the user to review programming for the next 7 days for up to 70 channels.
