Metz, Loewe and TechniSat make up the leading group of consumer electronics manufacturers.
In a mailed questionnaire on the distribution and service performance in the trade during 2004, the German Federal Association of the Technical Retail Trade (Bundesverband Technik des Einzelhandels e.V. - BVT) in Cologne reports that in the overall assessment, TechniSat came in at 3rd place, in a field of 17 renowned manufacturers.
The top rank was taken by Metz, while Loewe came in second. This means that the top three positions of this ranking are taken by German companies producing their products in Germany.
In terms of customer service and handling complaints, Metz is placed first, Loewe comes in second and TechniSat is in third place. The same applies to the category ?Delivery time/costs of spare and replacement parts? as well as for the remaining categories ?Technical support? and ?warranty/guarantee performance?. Metz produces its products in Fürth (Bavaria), Loewe is based in Kronach (Bavaria). TechniSat produces its ranges in three locations in Eastern Germany, i.e in Dippach near Eisenach in Thuringia (Thüringen), in Schöneck in the Vogtland region of Saxony, and since mid-1988 also in Stassfurt, near Magdeburg in Sachsen-Anhalt. At its development centre in Dresden, TechniSat employs more than 100 highly-qualified specialists. An additional development department as well as the group headquarters are located in Daun, in the Eifel region in Western Germany.
Metz and Loewe concentrate primarily on television sets, and have for some time also been focussed on LCD television sets. TechniSat is the Number 1 for digital receivers for all distribution systems, i.e. Digital Video Broadcast via satellite (DVB-S), via cable (DVB-C) as well as for the new antenna-based digital terrestrial television system (DVB-T).
