TechniSat HDFS Freesat HD digital box – now with external recording

02.11.2009

TechniSat Digital has further enhanced the advanced feature set of the HDFS® Satellite HD digital receiver with a software update that allows recording of TV programmes to an external hard disk drive.

Launched in June 2009, the HDFS® already provides unrivalled functionality offering playback of movies, music and pictures from USB memory sticks, SD/MS/MMC cards, CompactFlash or a networked PC via LAN or wirelessly using the optional USB WLAN Adaptor. The latest software update extends this functionality to add live TV pause, timeshift and recording to an external hard disk drive.
Simply connect an external hard disk drive to one of the USB ports on the HDFS® and it is ready for recording. The new software provides on-screen menus to manage recordings and timers can be set up using the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). Live programmes can be paused or recorded at the touch of a button and as playback is permitted at any point in the recording, programmes can be ‘timeshifted’ for convenience. TechniSat’s Marketing and Commercial Manager UK, Peter Etherington said “Extending the functionality of the TechniSat HDFS® with a free upgrade gives us the opportunity to show our commitment to offering our customers the most feature rich products on the market.”
The TechniSat HDFS® received a Gold Award from What Satellite & Digital TV magazine and most recently, a Best Buy award from Home Cinema Choice and was featured in the Sunday Times.
