25.05.2009

TechniSat, the market leader in Germany and specialist for set-top boxes, will be presenting new set-top boxes designed for various European markets, as well as new products in the fields of satellite installations, single-cable solutions, professional calibration technology and IDTVs at this year’s ANGA Cable show, to be held from 26th May to 28th May 2009 at stand K9 in hall 10.2.

New set-top boxes

The receiver range by TechniSat has already won numerous awards, and will once again be a highlight for visitors to the TechniSat stand number K9 in Hall 10.2 at this year’s ANGA Cable show 2009 in Cologne (Germany). This year TechniSat presents new set-top boxes for various European markets, especially for the reception of television programmes via DVB-T - for example TechniSat HDT4, DiGYBOXX T4 and DiGYBOXX T4 VA. Especially for UK, TechniSat offers the HDFS Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat.

TechniSat HDT4

TechniSat HDT 4 is designed for the reception of unencrypted and encrypted digital terrestrial TV in SD as well as in HD (MPEG 4) quality. The device includes an integrated CONAX decoding system with Smartcard reader. The sophisticated, logical operating concept ensures that HDT 4 is simple and convenient to operate. The on-screen menu used for operation is available in 10 languages: English, Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian, Portuguese, Lithuanian, Latvian, Russian, Estonian and Rumanian.

TechniSat DiGYBOXX T4 VA

With the DiGYBOXX T4 VA TechniSat offers a high-quality DVB-T receiver for the reception of unencrypted and encrypted digital terrestrial TV in SD as well as in HD (MPEG 4) quality (Boxer approved). The device is prepared for Boxer subscription and includes an integrated VIACCESS decoding system with Smartcard reader. The on-screen menu used for operation is available in 5 languages: English, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Danish. In addition, the DiGYBOXX T4 VA is particularly well suited for use while camping, or in mobile homes, as the receiver is additionally equipped with a 12-Volt power connection.

TechniSat DiGYBOXX T4

TechniSat DiGYBOXX T4 is designed for the reception of unencrypted and encrypted digital terrestrial TV in SD as well as in HD (MPEG 4) quality, especially for the French market. The DiGYBOXX T4 is equipped with an USB interface for connecting memory devices such as external hard drives; therefore the receiver can be used as PVR.

TechniSat HDFS Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat

The TechniSat HDFS Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat has been designed for the reception of both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) programming. The freesat specification offers a fully featured Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), interactive ‘Red Button’ services using MHEG-5 and HD programmes from ITV HD. The HDFS allows multimedia playback of movies, music and pictures from external USB devices, memory cards and Compact Flash or via a networked PC using the Ethernet port. The network connectivity can be extended further with the addition of the TechniSat USB-WLAN Adaptor to provide a wireless solution. In addition to freesat mode, the HDFS has a TechniSat mode which offers the extended features and functions expected of a TechniSat receiver, such as multi-satellite reception using DiSEqC and motor control.

Freesat is a free-to-view satellite platform developed by the BBC and ITV. Launched in May 2008, the platform provides the opportunity of receiving free HD services from the BBC and ITV. Although BBC HD is also available from BSkyB and Virgin Media, ITV HD is a Red Button service and can only be received via freesat. Freesat offers over 80 programmes including the HD programming on BBC HD and ITV HD.

TechniSat IDTV’s

TechniSat has been producing high-quality IDTVs at its production facility in Staßfurt, close to Magdeburg (Germany) since 2005, sets which are developed at the group’s own research and development centre in Dresden. TechniSat will be presenting its latest models in the HDTV series at the ANGA Cable show.

The TechniSat TV concept combines exceptional technology with an exclusive design as well as a user-friendly operating concept. The HDTV IDTVs (available in 32, 40 and 46 inch sizes) come equipped with an integrated Dual HDTV multi-tuner. This facilitates the reception of digital programmes via satellite (DVB-S), cable television (DVB-C) and terrestrial pathways (DVB-T) including reception of HDTV without any need for an additional receiver. Most of the models of the TechniSat IDTVs also come equipped with an integrated hard drive as standard, allowing users to record both analogue and digital programmes. The integrated TWIN tuner even allows viewers to conveniently record a TV or radio programme while at the same time viewing or listening to a different programme. Regarding our environmentally-conscious customers: all the HDTV IDTVs have gained top marks in energy efficiency, with power consumption in standby mode significantly less than one Watt.

Digital single-cable solution for 2 orbital positions

Of course, TechniSat will also be presenting its TechniRouter systems at the ANGA Cable show. The latest model in the TechniRouter family, the TechniRouter 9/1x8 is the latest generation of the digital single-cable solution. This TechniRouter allows you to receive two orbital positions, such as for example ASTRA 19.2° East and Eutelsat Hotbird 13° East, and to feed these into an existing cable network without any need for additional cables to be installed. Up to eight participants can be connected to the outputs and serviced by each TechniRouter unit. The integrated main power switch in the basic unit allows several cascades to be connected to the basic unit, allowing you to supply a larger number of participants, e.g. 16 or 24.

Calibration instruments

TechniSat will be presenting its latest professional calibration instrument at the ANGA Cable show, the TechniPlus HD. With this instrument, TechniSat has set new standards in the field of calibration technology. The well-known and proven TechniSat calibration unit TechniPlus has been upgraded through the addition of an MPEG-4 decoder, as well as with the option of displaying a picture on the integrated 4-inch colour display screen. In addition to the familiar features, such as the built-in digital calibration ranges DVB-S1, DVB-S2, DVB-C, DVB-T, cable analogue, terrestrial analogue and return channel technology from 5 - 65 MHz, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 decoder with image display, the new TechniPlus HD also comes equipped with an Ethernet/LAN interface. In addition, TechniSat will also be showing the new DigiMeter M3 calibration instrument. The DigiMeter M3 is an extremely compact instrument, featuring calibration ranges for DVB-S1, DVB-S2, DVB-T, DVB-C as well as for all known analogue measurements.

Digital head-end

The new digital cable head–end TechniNet BS 4 Professional, which will be presented for the first time at the ANGA Cable show, sees TechniSat setting new standards once again. This is a digital head-end with eight slots, designed to take up to eight TWIN cassettes. The TechniNet BS 4 Professional is characterised by a particularly compact design. It can be used for all types of applications, such as 19 inch installations, programming via a PC, remote feed as well as the use of DVB-S2/QAM-CI TWIN cards. Cards for QPSK/PAL-CI TWIN as well as additional cards are in planning, and will follow later.
