TechniSat Digital announced as Freesat manufacturer

Freesat has appointed TechniSat Digital as a manufacturer of high definition digital satellite receivers for 2009.

TechniSat Digital Group is a leading consumer electronics organisation with headquarters in Daun, Germany. Specialising in premium DVB products, TechniSat designs, develops and manufactures a range of Set Top Boxes, PVRs, PC cards, CA Modules and IDTVs with embedded Conditional Access and Common Interface for SD and HD services.

TechniSat has production facilities in Germany and Europe as well as R&D in Germany, Poland and the UK. TechniSat Digital UK Ltd has a long history of developing professional and consumer DVB products and was acquired by TechniSat Digital Group in 2006.

TechniSat will be launching with the HDFS^® Satellite HD digital receiver – a premium product for the reception of all Freesat SD and HD services which will also include extended features and functionality.

Freesat is a subscription free digital television service via satellite, offering over 140 TV, radio and interactive channels – including high definition programmes. It is a not-for-profit joint venture between UK public service broadcasters, the BBC and ITV.
