Apart from digital receivers for satellite, cable and terrestrial reception, TechniSat has for several years now been producing so-called CAM decoding modules. CAM is the abbreviation for Conditional Access Module, this is a decoding module with a PCMCIA connection that can be inserted into a CICAM receiver. CICAM receivers are digital receivers equipped with a CAM-PCMCIA slot (receivers with a Common Interface slot). In other words, these receivers can be upgraded to accommodate those encryption systems for which CA modules are available.
For some time now, TechniSat has made available a separate CAM module for the CONAX encryption system as well an additional one for CryptoWorks. Now, TechniSat is proud to present the first Multicrypt CAM module on the market. This Multicrypt 1 CI module is equipped to take both CONAX and CryptoWorks Smartcards. Production of such Multicrypt modules for CryptoWorks and CONAX has begun, now that CryptoTec (owner of the CryptoWorks encryption system) has successfully and within a very short time certified the new TechniSat Multicrypt CAM module.
